Online Series on Happiness
In honour of International Day of Happiness we have shared the following series of inspiring videos and blog posts on our website over the past few weeks:
Reasons to Celebrate International Day of Happiness - Here at NOW we see personal happiness as part of a larger picture of holistic wellbeing. A person’s overall wellbeing depends on the wellbeing of the community in which they live and work, while the wellbeing of their community depends on the wellbeing of society as a whole and the long-term health of the natural world on which we all depend.
The Importance of Connecting with People and with Nature - NOW’s Director Roger Higman reflects on how our happiest days are often built upon connection; with others and with the natural world around us. Roger also shares how a focus on connection will be guiding NOW’s work moving forward.
Your Happiness is Part of Something Bigger - This is a guest blog post by Alex Nunn, Head of Campaigns and Movement-Building at Action for Happiness. Every year Action for Happiness uses the 20th of March as a platform to launch a global campaign to promote positive social action for a happier world. The theme always focuses attention on an important social issue related to wellbeing; this year their theme is: ‘Your happiness is part of something bigger’.
Happiness: A Relational Way Of Thinking That We Can Learn - In this post NOW’s Joshua Malkin reports on his video interview with Sister Jewel, in which she shares some inspiring yet simple exercises that can help to deepen your relationships and change the way you look at life.
Happiness Is A Relational Way Of Being That We Can Practice – “On International Day of Happiness we are reminded that the growth of happiness is more important than the growth of GDP [Gross Domestic Product], and that happiness comes from connecting, caring, sharing and compassion”. This is a video interview with Satish Kumar, in which he shares some valuable tips on ways you can celebrate today.
